You'll Need

1 8.5" x 11" sheet

Red construction paper (one sheet of paper makes one large lantern)
1 8.5" x 11" sheet

Yellow construction paper (for gold accents)
Pencil
Ruler
Scissors
Tape, glue or stapler
Markers (to decorate the lantern while it's flat) (optional)
Small electric candle to put inside (optional)

Directions

Fold the red construction paper in half longways so that you have a long rectangle.

Using a ruler as a guide, draw a line across the top of the paper, just under an inch from the open end. Then draw a series of lines from the closed end to the line.
